Leavenworth Washington

Picture
As any of you that live here in the PNW knows, the winter storms are quickly approaching the coast. With these storms will come rain and wind. This weekend we just happened to have one of the first big storms hit! Wind and rain!

However, all was not lost. A few weeks back we received an invitation from Lyman and Janeane of Zuma to come visit them in their beautiful little town of Leavenworth Washington. We accepted the invitation and on Friday night made the drive over the Cascade Mountains to Leavenworth. Since it was dark when we arrived, we could not see what was in store for us over the weekend. Saturday morning broke with scattered clouds and a light breeze. What an amazing sight looking out of our window at the Bavarian Lodge! Mountains surround the valley. The trees were ablaze in their fall colors! Absoulety incredible!

We met Lyman and Janeane for breakfast and then it was off for our tour of "their" town. We walked the main streets with all of the shops and boutiques. Once we had seen downtown Leavenworth, it was off to Lake Wenatchee. We spent the afternoon looking out on the most incredible sight you could see. Water as smooth as a mirror and the mountains once again aglow in the colors of fall.

Dinner was a BBQ at the Boyd's (Lyman and Janeane) and then a little baseball on the telly.

If you have never been to Leavenworth, we would encourage you to make the two hour drive over the mountain and spend a day or two there. Stay at the Bavarian Lodge where everyone you encounter whether they be the staff or guests, are warm and friendly! Visit the Icicle Winery for a "tasting". What an incredible setting in which to sample some of the local wines! You cannot miss with a trip to Leavenworth! Maureen and I are already planning for our next trip over the mountain!

Thank you Lyman and Janeane for a great weekend!
