Liz and Lon Gotelli-Ostenson, April 18th, 2009

Liz and Lon joined us on a cruise on Lake Mohave on Saturday April 18th, 2009. We cruised from Willow Beach to the base of Hoover dam and then down stream stopping along the way to enjoy a glass of wine as well as bbq'ing steaks. The weather was the best we have seen in Las Vegas this year with the high hitting 86 degrees!

While I stood watch from the top of the house, Maureen took the helm. As Maureen manuevered us upstream, I kept a close lookout for rocks and sandbars. We communicated via a handheld VHF and the base set. The current and rapids in a couple of locations caught your attention and held it until you were well through it. At one point while headed upstream Maureen had the throttle wide open! The current was so swift, we could only make two knots! This puts the current at about 12 knots.
